- Strong mathematics and theoretical CS background; listed preparation includes calculus, linear algebra, probability/statistics, data structures and algorithms.
- Three recommendations, statement, CV and transcripts.
- External applicants are admitted for fall only.
- Thesis option requires six credits of CMSC 799, an independent research thesis, a faculty advisor, three-person committee and oral defense; even non-thesis students complete a faculty-supervised scholarly paper.
